The Earth isn’t like a house that we can leave if it gets too expensive or uncomfortable. The Earth made us, and we are one. So, we try to be conscious of the ways we are impacting our planet, and we consider our footprint when making decisions about things. Our 100-year old building itself could be considered a conservation project!

  1. We volunteer for and raise funds and awareness for local environmental non-profits. For several years we have partnered with Tampa Bay Watch, dedicated to fostering a healthy Tampa Bay watershed through community driven restoration projects, education programs, and outreach initiatives. In addition to co-hosting public yoga events with TBW and collecting donations, staff members work alongside TBW volunteers, collecting trash at our annual BE Beach Day, and building oyster reef balls.
  2. We do not and have never carried single-use plastic water bottles in our retail store. We offer water in aluminum and cardboard cartons, sell quality reusable water bottles, and offer free filtered water. We also pay for commercial recycling.
  3. We incentivize patrons to walk, cycle, take public transportation or ride-share to the studio. Our building is located on a major street with a dedicated bike lane. When we opened, we had bike racks installed to encourage cycling. As part of our rewards program, we give additional perk points to clients every time they travel to the studio by human-powered locomotion! This year we partnered with Pinellas County Transit Authority in a marketing promotion reminding folks of the benefits of going by bus.
  4. We shop local and offer local goods in our store. To make a smaller footprint, we try to buy products and sell products produced Tampa Bay.
  5. We only use green cleaning products.
  6. We use infrared heat and energy-saving LED bulbs.
  7. We grow things! We have a new herb garden this year, and we’re working on a community vegetable garden 🙂
