Mysore at The BE

Experience Ashtanga in the traditional method, and advance your asana practice. In a Mysore-style class, students move through the Primary Series at their own pace, under the close supervision of a teacher. The teacher works with everyone on a one-to-one basis, adjusting or assisting and helping you in a way that is most beneficial to your body and circumstances.

In a Mysore class, you learn to take responsibility for your own practice and develop a deep trusting relationship with your teacher.

No yoga experience is required!

Jade Skinner

Mysore Program Director / Ashtangi-In-Chief

“Jade is hands down one of the best kept secrets in the yoga world. She has incredible integrity, fierce grace, and undeniable standards. She will encourage your highest self in every pose and every breath.”
- Michelle Sorro

New Students

Due to the nature of the class and because some days are busier than others, new students are only accepted on Mondays and Tuesdays at 6:30am (please arrive 5-10 minutes early). As your practice progresses, at the director's discretion, you will be permitted to begin your practice on any morning before 7:30am.

Give yourself 45-60 minutes for the first five sessions. The practice will require more time as you move further along.

A Testimonial

When I first came to this place I didn't like it. I thought it was a really cool building that lacked flavor. On the day of my first Mysore class, I can also say that I did not like the teacher Jade Skinner. However, I had rented an apartment that week that was only a few blocks away and the tuition here is beyond reasonable so I went back.

By the end of my winter holiday in Florida however my opinion quickly changed. The mysore program under Jade Skinner is the best one in the Tampa/Clearwater/St Pete area. Jade is an instructor who really does give a damn about your practice. I'm telling you, I travel all over and that is not always the case. My practice grew more under her instruction than it has under any other teacher. She can be tough but she is also kind. The energy in the Mysore room here is absolutely amazing. Most Ashtanga teachers would die for the crowds that she gets. But you know what, they don't deserve it. I have seen Jade work a room with 50 people in it better than some of these knuckle headed teachers can handle a room with 3 students. Never once making you feel neglected or over looked.

Here is a person that told me one time 'you need to work on this because you will really need it when you go to the next series.' Ok now, I know that might not be a big deal to you, but it was to me. Here was a teacher who was hopeful and optimistic about my practice. In her very words letting me know that the next step was possible for me instead of having the attitude of 'oh not for you, never for you.' Or treating me as if my practice didn't matter. It is so important to have a teacher who believes in you, even more than you do yourself. I will always love her for that!! I left here being able to do things that I never thought were possible. I have to say that not only do I miss Jade but I also miss some of my fellow students who I practiced next to every morning. When I go to other studios, I find myself comparing them to Jade, 'hey, Jade wouldn't have done that, or Jade would have done such n such,' lol.
